How did that beaver get in the house?

A few weeks ago as I was getting Dakota's room ready for bedtime I noticed markings all over the rails of her crib. I was shocked!  My little girl would not have chomped down on her crib.  A beaver must have come in and decided these rails were delicious!
Baby or beaver markings?
So I immediately set to work searching online for rail protectors.  Disappointment!  I guess our front rail is not the average size as nothing was long enough to cover the rail.  As I became more frantic at the thought that at this very moment Dakota could be chomping away on her rails, Drew threw me one of his fantastic ideas.  "Why don't you just make one?" he says.  Really, are you kidding me? This is a project for my mom, Jannae, or my girlfriend Sarah who can actually use a sewing machine!  So I started searching for a sewing tutorial online for rail protectors and found this site http://www.babyrabies.com/2009/02/shes-crafty/ that had awesome directions and pictures on how to make rail protectors.  The next day Drew and I are out buying a sewing machine and a little bit of extra fabric so I can "whip up" some rail protectors.
The flower and butterfly print is from her original bedding set.
Making some ties.
Front rail protector almost finished.
Finishing my first project felt fantastic.  The sewing machine only got the better of me a few times and I already have a list of other projects I want to sew.  Here is the finished product.

Here is the happy little girl that can no longer chew like a beaver on her bed rail!
