Bonding Over Camo

Our first "real" snow of the season was timed to hit the valley last night.  The cold temps and snow flurries were a good sign that elk and deer would be feeding before the storm moved in.  Being the hunter that he is, Drew packed up his girls, posed for a photo op with his baby and threw us in Big Rig for a quick drive into the mountains.  This was Dakota's first time hunting with her Dad.  She dressed the part well but was no help in the scouting department as she napped for at least an hour!  As we approached a popular parking area for hunters, we saw a dad and his little girl waiting to cross the road.  With a hunting rifle in one hand and his little girl's hand firmly clasped in the other, they stopped and waited for us to pass by.  I just smiled...one day that is going to be Drew and Dakota out for a walk before dusk.  I know that my two favorites are going to spend a lot of time in the mountains and share some wonderful memories together. And really, being that the last 9 months have flown by more quickly then any other time in our lives, it wont be long till the dad and daughter walking across the road together are Drew and Dakota.

Halloween just got a whole lot sweeter

Our third annual pumpkin carving party was a true testament to how our group of friends have evolved over the last year.  Long gone are the days of excessive beer drinking and staying up past our bedtimes.  This year we sat around in a circle, watched our kids play with each other and were home by 7:30!  To be completely honest though, I really enjoyed the change and I think the low key get together was what all the tired parents needed.  Of course this year will probably be the quietest of them all being that next year our little ones will really be moving around.
Peyton, Lonyn & Dakota start the party playing nicely in a circle.
Dakota thought it was appropriate to start displaying her WWE moves.
We obviously need to learn appropriate playtime activities!
A monster, pumpkin, panda & tootsie roll unite.
My little tootsie roll.
Daddy carved baby's first pumpkin for her.
Halloween night was spent at home hanging out.

Our beautiful fall weather is fading fast so I decided to get some outside pics of Dakota before the snow really starts to stick.  Our first day of snow flurries in the Bitterroot was October 24!
Soaking up some sunshine.
 Cheese!
 What you looking at?
 These are some nice flowers...
Yes, I'm going to put them in my mouth!
 Leaves are a great distraction.
 Beautiful smile
 Happy
 Pondering something great I'm sure!
