The month of June has flown by and we are now into the full swing of summer! Hot weather, beautiful warm nights on the deck, and lots of new things for Dakota to experience are on the horizon. I feel like we have been doing a lot lately so here is a quick rewind of what we have been up to.
Once again we have brought home a new group of baby chicks. You would think we would have this whole chicken and fox thing figured out! I hope this third batch of chicks works out better or we might need to reevaluate our chicken farming! Right now we have 6 new faces in the chicken coop and they have just recently made their way out into the open space that is now their home. We have not had the chance to name any of them but I am excited that at least one of them has good toe hair like Obama did!
Kirsten and I decided that it was about time to take the girls down to their first Farmer's Market. We took off walking from Kirsten's house, spent some time admiring all the good looking vegetables and plants, ate some delicious muffins, and then sat in the shade and let the girls wiggle around and play for a while. You can see that the afternoon was a little tiring for the girls!
Grandpa came through town for a quick visit. We spent the afternoon in Missoula and then some quality time playing on the floor until the little one was plain tuckered out and ready for sleepy time.
Drew celebrated his first Father's Day! Dakota and I decided that the waffle maker that Drew has been dropping hints about would be a great gift. He has perfected the cooking time and the waffles are AMAZING!
Grandma came to visit too! The weather was absolutely gorgeous while Lynn was here so we spent lots of time on the back deck talking and hanging out. We also went to Out to Lunch in Missoula and ate some yummy food, listened to student musicians, and the Missoula Big Band. We also introduced the exersaucer to Dakota during Lynn's visit. She is a little small for the toy but I think once she can reach everything with ease she is going to love all the different activities.

Our first camping trip...we will NEVER forget our first over nighter in the mountains! We camped outside of Hamilton about an hour & a half away from home up the dirt road that leads to Lost Horse. It is a beautiful location with amazing waterfalls, lakes, wildlife, and a river that was running high and fast. We set up camp right next to the river. You can imagine how happy Meadow was with our chosen location! The first night went fairly well. Dakota woke up during the night to nurse and then she laid next to me the remainder of the night to sleep. The next day however, she refused to nap and so by the end of the day she was pretty cranky. Then the beginning of 12 hours of rain and thunder began! We were finally able to get Dakota to sleep early in the evening and decided to go to bed ourselves since the rain did not look like it would be letting up anytime soon. During the middle of the night Dakota woke up and absolutely refused to go back to sleep. She had the hiccups, was kicking and squirming like crazy, crying, and no attempts to console her worked. Then she started throwing up...all over us, the blankets, and herself! Needless to say I think both Drew and I were a little nervous to be so far up the dirt road with a baby that didn't feel well. Drew finally bundled Dakota up and placed her in my arms and I held her for the rest of the night. As soon as the sun came up we packed up and got out of there! I'm by no means ready to give up camping but I think we need to wait a few weeks before we camp over night again.

Has it really been 6 years already! Drew and I celebrated our anniversary a few days ago and we spent the afternoon by going for a nice drive up into the mountains and a bbq on the back deck. For those of you that may not know, Meadow was our first year anniversary gift to one another. Isn't she so pretty?!
Happy Birthday to me! This year I turned 29!! I normally dislike celebrating my birthday but this year it felt different. I spent the day with Dakota, received tons of calls and text messages from family and friends, and Drew and I ended the evening by having some champagne. It was a great day and I really enjoyed myself this year.
And finally, a couple of pictures of our beautiful little girl because I can't get enough of her!
